Introduction to Leadership
Leadership may be the most demanding
human ability ever since the beginning of human kind. It is combination of
mental, physical and physiological abilities, skills and knowledge. Sometimes
leadership emerges randomly or naturally from persons without prior signs. Some
believe leadership is a inborn gift given by nature to specific people. Well known
notion that “The leaders are born and can’t
made” have been emerged based on afore mention sentiment and historical examples
More importantly Leader must have a
higher level of emotional intelligence to understand different people in organization
and thereby developing positive relationship with them, next communication and
decision making skills to carry out right thing on right time.
It can be understood that most influential leaders are emerged by combination of both genetic and environmental factors.
Howbeit some argue it is not a theory
but fact, instead leadership abilities can be ingrained within some person by continuously being weathered to challenge
situations and volatile environment. The modern business organization and other organizations such as military forces have successfully applied this method to consive leadership abilities and thence develop with in recruits.
The
leadership necessity is often associated with change. Because the humans or
employees are intrinsically reluctant to change. That means they don’t like to change
the pattern, routine activities and lifestyle, what they have been used. However, owing to unavailable
circumstances, the organization have to change or alter their operations and business activities in order to cope with the situation.
This is the point where strong leadership necessity emerge for reform the organization and thereby pushing towards the appropriate direction. Sometimes it may be needed to reform organization structure, reduce unnecessary costs, have to be familiarized to new technology or market etc. However, it must be exhaustive for some employees and difficult. So, leadership’s tenacity perseverance and fearlessness is imperative to prepare employees to accept the change.
In modern business context, Business
environment is bound to change abruptly owing to complex political situations
and internal & External shock on economy. In such a scenario, Business organization's have to acclimate to
existing environmental, then they may have to change their production or service, reduce
the workforce or may be adopted new technologies etc. Hence, leader is the
person who have to decide what should be done or not and what should choose and
thence direct organization towards that direction.
Manager
Manager is professional who carry out
set of activities planning, organizing, leading, coordinating and controlling by
behaving group of people and using resources in order to attain organization’s goal while maintaining the organization's stability and culture.
Hence, Manager has a broad scope to cover and have to play vital and central role for organization’s to meets its goal. So, there is a higher demand for competitive managers in the industry. Then manager should own set of skills, abilities , knowledge and experience germane to field.
More importantly, he or her should have
higher level of conceptual ability, critical thinking and abstract reasoning
abilities in order to play his role in complex and volatile business
environment. In comparing to leadership, the manager should possess systematic
knowledge concerning to relevant field, most often they are subject matter
experts for related subject domain.
Challenges manager face in
modern business context
Modern
business industry is highly competitive and complex, risks and changes are often concomitant that stem from political uncertainty and fluctuations in economy, on
the other hand influence from natural phenomena such as pandemic and droughts, Therefor,
to preserve business activity and it’s
goal, the manager must be capable to oversee dozen of activities pertinent to
deferent disciplines such as financial, marketing, HR etc. And have to involves
for policy formulating in business administrative
level, and have to oversee every stage of production process from designing to
marketing. Sometimes, he have to intervene on some activities to influence the
employee to obtain finer results.
Therefor manager must have leadership abilities
beside other subjects matter expertise, because he have to relay on other
employees ( Subordinates ) to carry out managerial activities such as planning,
organizing etc. He cannot do every activity himself alone. Instead, he must
direct Subordinate employees to do that. So this factors demand leadership abilities
from manager.
Mediating and liaising
One of most important part the
manager have to do, is conflict resolving, conflict between different discipline
is inevitable, To carry out Production
or Business activities, number of separate branches or professionals are
involves engineers, marketers, financial managers, supply chain managers etc,
thence collision can be taken place, as they all are working in a complex and unforeseeable
environment.
At this Juncture, manager
have to intervene to situation push both person or unit to a justapoint. otherwise, it may cause to undermine organization
stability and can have impact on it’s business activities. To do that, Manager
should possess problem solving abilities and emotional intelligence & negotiating
skills.

I think your blog is a valuable and an informative post. I also think when discussing of the challenges, time management and being understaffed also should be considered. Especially during the pandemic, it is critical to meet both organization’s objectives and goals with the minimum workforce.
